A nice diving weekend on Putri Island, one of the "Thousand Islands", an hour and a half by boat north of Jakarta. Trip and diving organized by Kristal Klear at the Kristal hotel in Jakarta.
There is an orangutan shelter in the middle of the Jakarta zoo and people visit and bring along their old jeans for the inmates to play with
Fabulous 10 days with our visitors from Austria (where Mark has a hotel - Hotel Seerose). We did loads of stuff including visiting Taman Safari Park in Puncak; a day at Taman Mini Indonesia (a cultural center in Jakarta); and a weekend out at Tiger Island (Pulau Macan) - a private island, just us for the weekend.

Us and four friends for a week on the Cecilia Ann, a 60 ft ketch, sailing down the west side of Java to Ujong Kulon via Krakatoa. Rozi did her Padi diving qualification on this trip.
We spent 4 days on Gili Trawangan, one of the three Gili Islands between Bali and Lombok. We stayed in the Hotel Vila Ombak. This is a very small island (8km circumference) with no cars or motorbikes just horse drawn carts. Nice diving with the resorts dive team and lovely clear water.
We stayed at the Bali Hyatt for a few days before leaving for Lombok. David and Rozi visited Ubud, lots of elephants and monkeys.
Pantara is one of the small islands in the Pulau Seribu (Thousand Islands) north of Jakarta. We go here every now and again for a weekend, very relaxing, nice snorkeling and very convenient. The resort has 40 or so fairly basic but nice bungalows (with a/c) and a reasonable restaurant.
Rozi and David visited the ancient monument at Borobodur, a famous Buddhist shrine build in about 800 AD and located 25 km north west of Yogyakarta (also known as Jogya). While there they stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Jogya. Jogya is about an hours flight from Jakarta.

Spring break in Phuket, stayed at the Marina Phuket Hotel. Had a great trip out to Phi-phi island in a fast speed boat and visited the beach where they filmed "The Beach" and "Man with the Golden Gun". Excellent snorkeling everywhere. Visited the best sea shell museum ever and shot up some targets in the Phuket Shooting Range.
