Home Previous day Next day

Vegas to Flagstaff, Arizona - 372 miles

After checking out of the MGM decided to get rid of my last 4 quarters in the slots. Yesterday I must have pushed dozens into various machines along the strip and didn't win a single nickel back. Well, wouldn't you know it, there was no way I could get rid of them, I just kept winning, more came out every time I tried to get rid of the silly things. Finally gave up when there were more in the payout tray than I could hold in two hands. C'est la vie.

Headed west to Hoover dam which was closed to inside tours because of 9-11. Disappointing, but we wandered around and looked over the edge and drove on. The drive to the Grand Canyon was about 4 hours and was through desert and scrub, very nice but was cloudy. Plenty of American Indians at the side of the road selling blankets. Decided we didn't really need one. The canyon itself was pretty much as we'd expected, so we took pictures and headed to Flagstaff for an early night because it was too late to see the big meteor crater. That will be first order of the day tomorrow. Found a Cinema complex so we'll watch the Star Wars movie tonight which will make David's day. We're staying at the Hampton Inn on the outskirts of Flagstaff tonight.
