Day 1, May 25 2002
Anchorage to Whitehorse, 701 miles, 14 hours total time including stops.
Sunshine all day, started really warming up about 9 am. Left about 6:15 from BP car park, was confronted by BP security guard who told us we were not allowed to take pictures of the BP building. Go figure that one. Had moose run across the road in front of us on 2 separate occasions on the way to Glenallen. Roads nearly empty all day so driving was great.
Spotted the black bear at the side of the road just after we arrived in Canada. Reached Whitehorse finally at 9 pm their time (AK + 1 hour), three sections of very dusty road works slowed us down a bit.
